Note: This is a discontinued product. Archival documentation » Scientific Astronomer is a general astronomy system that produces charts, generates animations, and derives information about astronomical events. Scientific Astronomer covers four main areas of astronomy including star charting, planet plotting, eclipse predicting, and satellite tracking. More specifically, it can - Help you determine which objects and events are visible from your location and tells you exactly when and where to look for them
- Determine the positions of all the planets, the Sun, the Moon, and other objects on any given date for thousands of years into the past or future
- Produce radial, compass, zenith, and wide field star charts
- Search information about the properties and movements of over 9000 stars
- Display surface feature for the Moon, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn
- Compute precise eclipse times
- Calculate times and best viewpoints for lunar occultations of stars and planets
- Plot satellite tracks (can be included in star charts)
- Generate planisphere plates, planet wall charts, and solar system plots
- Calculate precise times of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset on any given date
- Calculate times of new and full moons
- Displays orbit of planets, comets, and asteroids
Scientific Astronomer also includes many notebooks with worked examples on topics such as annual meteor showers, eclipsing and pulsating variable stars, earth satellites, comets, asteroids, and eclipses.
