FRED, stands for Federal Reserve Economic Data, a database of 20,318 U.S. economic time series. This is a brief description, with some examples, of how to create a function to download FRED data. In order to proceed with this example you will need to obtain an API key from the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis. Details on how to obtain an API key can be found here. Documentation for the API can be found here.
