Description

The author shows how one can compute the concentration profile and mass flux for the unsteady diffusion problem in spherical coordinates. Two methods are used for this purpose. The first method is based on the built-in function of Mathematica: NDSolve. The second method is an application of the orthogonal collocation method with six internal collocation points. Both methods give the same results. Details about the orthogonal collocation method can be found in the excellent book by W. F. Ramirez, Computational Methods for Process Simulation, Second Edition, 1997, Butterworth Heinemann, Oxford.
