In the present notebook, we show how one can obtain the values of the second virial coefficients using experimental molar volumes as a function of composition for a binary mixture of Methane and Propane. The determination is based on the least squares method and the built in Mathematica function FindMinimum; we then use these coefficients of the virial equation of state to determine partial molar volumes, fugacity coefficients, fugacity, activities and activity coefficients. We conclude with the determination of the excess Gibbs free energy and the excess chemical potentials.
