The function conicReduceM2R transforms a real 2 × 2 matrix via matrix conjugation to an elliptic, hyperbolic, parabolic, or scalar normal form. Comment: The contributed function conicReduceM2R supplements a note that I am submitting to Mathematics Magazine. The draft note is currently entitled, "Conic Normal Form of a Real 2×2 Matrix", and was prompted by an example from Wulf Rossmann's book, "Lie Groups: An Introduction through Linear Groups".
