The notebook reproduces the figure 1 page 541 of the paper by James Wei, Intraparticle Diffusion Effects in Complex Systems of First Order Reactions II. The Influence of Diffusion on the Performance of Chemical Reactors, Journal of Catalysis, Vol. 1, n°6, 1962.
We plot reaction paths for a three-species consecutive first order reaction system in the absence of diffusion effects. We show that the presence of intraparticle diffusion effects modifies the scheme consisting of only consecutive reactions so as to contain parallel reactions. Reaction paths are also plotted when diffusion effects are taken into account. Since all diffusion coefficients are taken equal, both transformation matrices are identical. Finally, the straight line reaction paths are plotted.
