Description

An isolated, asymmetric object spinning about an axis that is not a symmetry axis will undergo free precession. In this notebook, we model the motion of such an object. We go well beyond the standard textbook treatment by showing the motion of an arbitrary point on the surface of the object. We also animate the usually studied motions of the symmetry axis and the overall orientation of the object.
