The package "XRayAttenuation.m" defines functions which provide an interpolation of the tables of NIST report 5632, "Tables of X-Ray Mass Attenuation Coefficients and Mass Energy-Absorption Coefficients 1 keV to 20 MeV for Elements Z = 1 to 92 and 48 Additional Substances of Dosimetric Interest," by J. Hubbell and S.M. Seltzer. Based on this interpolation, additional functions provide x-ray attenuation and absorption mean free paths and x-ray fractional transmission and absorption in these 140 materials, as well as in homogenous mixtures and in chemical compounds based on these materials. Functions to convert x-ray wave length and frequency to energy are also included. The notebook "XRayAttenuation Tutorial.nb" describes briefly the attenuation and absorption of x-rays in matter and demonstrates the use of the package.
