This is the distribution directory for version 1.0 of the Mathematica
package "Hyperbolic" written by Silvio Levy, Oliver Goodman and
Charlie Gunn at The Geometry Center. 

The package contains Mathematica definitions to enable
the user to carry out computations in n-dimensional hyperbolic geometry 
and display 2 and 3 dimensional output using Mathematica's graphics. 

The package runs on any system with Mathematica version 2.0 or greater. 
The distribution contains a demonstration notebook for the NeXT version of
Mathematica and a text based version for other users. 

To use the package simply ensure that copies of the files 
Hyperbolic.m, Minkowski.m, Circle3D.m and Normalize.m are present in 
your working directory when you start Mathematica. After starting
Mathematica type <<Hyperbolic.m to load the package. 

If you wish to have the package permanently installed on your system
then copy the above named ".m" files into a directory in Mathematica's
search path. You may also wish to install the nroff format manual
pages hyperbolic.man and hypintro.man and update the startup message
at the top of Hyperbolic.m appropriately.

CAN WE HELP YOU ?

The authors of this package will be very interested to hear any
wishes you have for possible future extensions of this package. Our
intention is to make the package a base for much future development
of mathematical software relating to hyperbolic geometry.

In the next release of this package we plan to include extensions to
the way the package handles 3D graphics in the Klein and Poincare
models. Also planned are ways of specifying isometries as
translations, rotations or reflections.

If you have a project which deals with hyperbolic
manifolds or orbifolds we would be very interested to hear about it. 
We would also like to hear the mathematical motivation for your project.
This will enable us to decide how much time it is reasonable for us 
to spend on fulfilling your wishes.
