Algebra, Trigonometry, & Mathematica (AT&M) is interactive courseware that helps students learn precalculus by doing mathematics instead of reading about it. The power and flexibility of Mathematica enables the student to generate many examples from one initial example and allows for individual investigations until a given concept is fully understood. The student is encouraged to ask "What if...?" and is empowered to find the answer almost immediately. AT&M can be used in any algebra, precalculus, or trigonometry course in a college or high school setting. The authors have used AT&M as the sole text in a five-credit course in college algebra and trigonometry at Western Kentucky University for several years. The students meet in a computer laboratory where traditional lecture is replaced by individual assistance and guidance. AT&M is also used by off-campus students in distance-learning courses. Additionally, AT&M can be used by instructors as a supplemental enrichment source in a traditional setting and by self-motivated individuals for independent learning. AT&M is fully incorporated within the Help Browser in Mathematica. Note: AT&M is available only for academic professionals.
