New in version 10, Dataset introduces a general-purpose container for storing tabular or hierarchical data using lists and associations. I'll cover the query language of Dataset, including the way it extends Part syntax to give us a powerful way of performing analysis, the concept of ascending and descending operators, failure handling, and subtleties with computing with Missing data.ÊOn the way we'lll learn about operator forms, a new style of writing WL code that was invented for the use in Dataset but benefits the whole language. I'll also touch on the hidden type system behind Dataset and how it represents "the shape of data".Ê
