This talk will give an overview for solving differential algebraic equations (DAEs) using NDSolve. Unlike ODEs, the solution of DAEs require a number of pre-processing steps before the system can be integrated using standard solvers. This is especially true for high index DAEs. New built-in functionalities in NDSolve now enable the solution of such DAEs. This talk will focus on the index reduction of DAEs, the consistent initialization of DAE systems and the methods for integrating the solution.
