Description

Over the last ten years, I have had the opportunity to participate in and observe High Performance Computing field from a government HPC R&D leadership role, from an academic perspective, from a industry economic innovation initiative view. What do we mean by HPC today now that we have multicore systems, clusters, grids, and large hero systems. How useful are these systems from an academic, government and economic perspective? Is there a link between the competitiveness index and the penetration of HPC in all aspects of academia and industry processes? The goal is to raise these types of questions, provide results of some recent surveys and case studies, and finally suggest an exciting new opportunity for gridMathematica in Digital Analysis Computing (DAC).
