Description

Abstract

The quantum mechanics of two- and three-dimensional nano-structures (artificial atoms) is a hot topic in physics. Mathematica's gigaNumerics project makes it possible to solve hard, interesting quantum mechanics problems quickly and easily on a desktop machine. The new graphical capabilities in Mathematica 6.0 allow users to visualize the results even for multidimensional problems. I will discuss solving the Schrödinger equation in two and three dimensions on both symmetric and asymmetric regions. I will also discuss handling interacting particles.
