Abstract
The Music Package in Mathematica 6 is enormously versatile and can easily be used to play melodies. This presentation will demonstrate one technique for developing a set of musical notes based on the Music Package's tones, and for playing sequences of notes whose duration and instrument are specified by the user. Methods for elaborating the melodies with harmony and accompaniment also are presented. Use of the Manipulate function enables users to adjust a melody's tempo, and the musical instrument and song title can be selected from buttons.
