Description

This paper reports on a comprehensive advanced mathematics curriculum featuring extensive use of CAS software (Mathematica) in a new technology-focused California high school. Mathematica is an integral component of courses in precalculus, calculus, advanced calculus, modern finite math, differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete math. We describe the specific content of the curriculum; discuss the philosophy and genesis of the program and explore major curricular and instructional issues; look at examples of student work in these courses using Mathematica; and report preliminary results and observations about program outcomes.
