In this textbook presents the mathematical basics in an exact yet clear and comprehensible way. Throughout the book are numerous illustrated examples, motivated by applications in computer science as well mixed with historical background information or outlooks towards related subject areas.
At the end of each chapter there are questions, which test the understanding and address typical errors and mistakes. Additional warm-up tutorials (with complete solutions) and further training examples are provided in order to both consolidate what you have learned and show how to use it in practice. This textbook is therefore very well suited for self-study. Supplementary, in separate chapters, the computer algebra system Mathematica will be introduced and applied, to visualize the material and thus ease its understanding.
