Description

Collision-induced light scattering (CILS) is a rotational–translational Raman scattering occurring in pairs or larger clusters of interactingmolecules. A general explicit expression for the dipole correlation function relevant to second-order CILS is derived in the spherical tensor formalism. A Mathematica program is given to calculate this autocorrelation function and hence the scattered intensity and depolarization ratio. Some examples are given for interacting atoms and tetrahedral molecules. These developments will aid in the interpretation of the weak, high-frequency wings of induced spectra.
