In our previous column [in MER 7:4] we presented a mobile version of the Axelrod model of social learning through the binary transmission of cultural values via memes [Axelrod 1997]. In this column, we will look at a simpler variant of that model and then an even simpler version of the model in which social status determines the direction of meme transmission.
