Description

The use of minimax approximation is suggested as the best possible approach during the evaluation of stress intensity factors from the respective integral including the loading distribution and the corresponding weight/Green function. This kind of approximation is generally better than alternative methods. The computer algebra system Mathematica has been used for the derivation of the related SAN (semi-analytical/numerical) results in the case of a single crack under exponential loading distribution (including a symbolic parameter). A simple related procedure (in the Mathematica language) is also presented.
