We illustrate how Mathematica can be used to generate graphical representations of atomic crystal structures. These include crystal structures which are periodic in all three spatial dimensions, and structures which have reduced symmetry in one or more spatial dimensions. As special cases of the latter we model the relaxed (110) surface of the compound semiconductor GaAs and the Buckminsterfullerene molecule.
