Description

The magnetoelastic coefficient B^g,2 of crystalline iron is calculated against the Stoner gap for the 3d band. The diagonalization of 10 x 10 matrix of the 3d band Hamiltonian is solved by Mathematica. The results are fitted to the experimental data on the thermal dependence of B^g,2. The Akulov exponent is found to be 4.0 in the range of temperature from 0 to 400 K. The calculated value of B^g,2 depends slightly on an applied tensile stress: at T = 0, the variation is 1% per 20 MPa. We do not find any influence of an applied shear stress. The number of zeros of B^g,2 against the band filling varies with the values of the model parameters.
