Spiral-shaped inclusion trails are visible as curves within sections of metamorphic garnet crystals. They are sections of surfaces rich in aligned inclusions of other minerals, present in the surrounding rock, that have been incorporated by the garnet as it grows. This paper describes an interpolation technique which takes data from parallel sections through such crystals and reconstructs the shape of an inclusion surface.
