One problem that researchers constantly face when they attempt to visualize complex systems is that they rapidly run out of visualization techniques. In other words, there are generally many more paraeters than ways to distinguish them. ... A promising new solution to this dilemma uses sound as an exploratory "visualization" tool. Although a number of people studied sound as an analysis tool in the past, only within the past couple of years have sound-generation and computing technologies evolved to the point where they could be considered useful for scientific data analysis.
