Tedious computations involving rote skills in algebra and calculus can be assisted by a computer algebra system (CAS). Powerful subroutines can be written to create symbolic solutions to differential equations, then high-resolution graphical tools are used to plot the solution. Computer algebra software has become a power tool for applied mathematics.
