Description

Certain dynamical problems admit, via modern symbolic software, of exact analytical solution. We use Mathematica to investigate the lattice dynamics of a certain DNA model, and find an exact expression for the acoustic wave velocity of the lowest vibrational mode. For an eight-particle model of a DNA base pair we use a combination of symbolics and numerics to plot all eight dispersion and velocity curves of long DNA molecules.
