This paper describes a computer tool designed to help engineering students with their work in learning basic concepts of electrical energy. The computer tool was built as a specialized package of the software Mathematica, comprising about 30 user-defined functions covering all the application area of electrical energy systems. The package was designed to back up courses using the problem-based learning paradigm. Two typical examples of usage are presented in detail.
