Description

The paper will give an application oriented introduction into symbolic analysis of analog electronic circuits. Starting with a brief review of the problems in current industrial analog circuit design an overview of the state of the are concerning the functionality of symbolic analysis methods will be given. Special attention will be devoted to the subject of symbolic approximation strategies in general but particularity to the approximation of nonlinear equations. Hence nonlinear symbolic circuits analysis will be introduced covering the topics generation of circuits equations, processing and solving of the circuit differential algebraic equations (DAE's), and the automatic generations of behavioral models from nonlinear circuit equations. The methodology will be demonstrated on an integrated multiplier circuit.
