Linear Array Field Pattern

d:     d:     n:

Implementation

Here we define the array factor for a linear array excited with uniform voltages of uniform interelement phasing. Assuming the array is along the z axis, the array factor can be expressed by the following simple form. We ignore the possibility of mutual inductance in this example.

The next expression gives the element factor, assuming the array elements are half-wave parallel dipoles.

We can now plot the far-field pattern. Choose a spacing, a phase shift, and the elements for field pattern.
