Speaking only for myself, when I'm building and repeatedly executing a 
lengthy notebook (or parts of same), and something puzzling is occurring 
way down in the execution or the notebook, it might be very handy to be 
able to click a button or menu command and have a window display 
essentially every variable or symbol I've created up to that point, or 
that's live and defined at that instant in the execution, along with its 
value -- could be a very helpful diagnostic tool.

["Oh, hey, I totally forgot I defined that variable, or reset that 
value, way earlier in the notebook."]
