There are two Packages (with a .m extension) and 14 Notebooks, including this one (with a .ma extension). To facilitate their use, the 2 Packages (MonteCarlo.m and GameTheory.m) should be put in the Packages subfolder of the Mathematica folder; you will not need to look inside them. The Notebooks should be put in a folder where you can open them easily. The 12 Notebooks Chapterx.ma (x = 1 to 12) contain model solutions to the Exercises at the end of each of the chapters, where Mathematica is helpful in solving the problem. You should try to solve the problem yourself before looking and implementing the model solution. This "model" solution is, of course, only one of a large number of different ways of writing a program to solve the problem. I have assumed only a limited knowledge of Mathematica, at least in the first few chapters. A good introductory book is The Beginner's Guide to Mathematica 2.0 by T. Gray and J. Glynn (Addison-Wesley, New York, 1992). A useful intermediate book is Mathematica, A Practical Approach by Nancy Blachman (Prentice Hall, NJ, 1992). The indispensible reference guide is Mathematica: A System for Doing Mathematics by Computer by Stephen Wolfram (2nd Edn, Addison-Wesley, New York, 1991). Appendix.ma is a Notebook version of the mathematical Appendix to the book on "Some Mathematical Tools for Population Biologists". ;[s] 18:0,0;5,1;15,0;58,1;91,0;388,1;399,0;655,1;666,0;967,1;978,0;1045,1;1084,0;1173,1;1206,0;1289,1;1345,0;1547,1;1549,-1; 2:9,13,9,Times,0,12,0,0,0;9,14,10,Times,2,12,0,0,0; ^*)
