Description

Debye-Hückel limiting law gives good prediction of activity coefficients only at low molalities. Corrections to the Debye-Hückel limiting law depend on adjustable parameters. We show in the present notebook how to obtain the values of the adjustable parameters from experimental data of activity coefficients of HCl in aqueous hydrochloric acid solutions versus HCl molalities at 25°C. Experimental data is taken from Chemical and Engineering Thermodynamics by S. I. Sandler, 3rd Edition, Wiley 1999 (Illustration 7.11-1 page 459). Finally, predicted and experimental activity coefficients are plotted versus molality.
