The package qmatrix defines objects and functions which allow you to perform typical computations in quantum information theory in a comfortable and intuitive way. It allows to work with objects representing quantum states and operators on multi-partite Hilbert spaces which behave in the "natural" way without the user having to deal with the details of the internal representation. These objects remember the Hilbert spaces they live in or act on, so that eg the noncommutative product ** will closely resemble the way Dirac notation works in pencil-and-paper computations. A tutorial, illustrating many features of the package, as well as a small sample application (quantum teleportation of a qubit) are included.
