Description

The purpose of this example is to demonstrate how Mathematica 4.2 can benefit from the support for data stored in the FITS format. FITS data often contain astronomical images from which can be extracted quantitative data. The data used in this example were obtained on May 9, 2000, in Flagstaff, Arizona, using the Lowell Observatory 31-inch telescope. The optical system included a liquid nitrogen-cooled CCD camera with an image resolution of 512 x 512 pixels.
