Statistical inference is an indispensable tool for making sense of data in all empirical research. One of the most important approaches for doing statistical inference is the likelihood-based statistical inference (LSI). In this section a short introduction to LSI is given and then the next section contains a discussion on how LSI can be taught with Mathematica using the Statistical Inference Package SIP.
