A complete redesign of Mathematica's numerical differential equation solver NDSolve has been under development for a number of years. The aim is to provide a variety of useful numerical integration methods in a uniform, extensible environment.

In this talk we will give an overview of the features and design goals of the new framework. Particular attention will be given to explicit Runge–Kutta methods including some of the features of the implementation such as automatic stiffness detection.
