Description

The purpose of this paper is to present Mathematica-based writing assignments, in the form of Notebooks. By using Mathematica instructors will be able to provide the students with an excellent medium for practicing their writing skills. Mathematica's extraordinary features allow students to concentrate on the conceptual understanding of mathematics and on writing about mathematics without taking time for tedious calculations that are prone to error. This work was motivated by the author's experience with other computer assignments, in which the students' tendency was to not do any mental work, but only to punch a few keys.
