VisualDSolve: A Package for Visualizing Differential Equations
Stan Wagon
Macalester College
VisualDSolve, a package developed by Dan Schwalbe and Stan Wagon, provides a wide
variety of tools for visualizing solutions to ordinary differential equations. Some of
these methods are new, such as the ability to look at nullclines and related regions of
flow for an autonomous system in the plane, and the use of curvy fish shapes to illustrate
a direction field. A nifty feature of Mathematica is that one can use high
precision as a means of verifying correctness of numerical solutions.
